You all welcomed me when I came frantic to get out of house for what I duplicitously called a caregiver support meeting and was actually Al-Anon. (No, she's not my qualifier.) She loves to read aloud. I gave up trying to convince her that my bring home a LP book from work was not going to destroy my life (yea, we go for high drama) since she wouldn't be able to read it any way and just brough one home and left it around. She must have given it a try, because she was reading it when I got home. And now she's spending hours reading aloud to me when we are both home, which I enjoy. And we both nit-pick at the book, which stops me being a target. Win-win. (Not sure where to put this so I just stuck it here.)

That's great!...  My dad was into those home herbal or natural remedies. So, I bought thick books on it - from Reader's Digest and other herbal websites. He spent hours reading it, writing on the book, folding his favorite pages and wrote lots of notes. Then, whoever happens to be around, he would quote all these information.

Even before it was made publicly, he told me and everyone who would listen that those black teflon on the frying pans causes cancer. Apple cider vinegar, etc.. One time, when he was hospitalized, (I was there) when the doctor asked my dad if he used to be a doctor! (Ha! My dad at the time thought he was staying in a hotel.)

I bet if you brought your LP book and 'forgot' it here, my dad would have found it fascinating, too. I'm so glad that it's helping you and your mom to communicate in a much nicer setting!

Thanks. She also asked me to bring all the George Gently DVDs home at once so she could see the whole ten years and work out the story line. "I wondered why no one ever thought of doing this before," she asked. I did not tell her she had just re-invented binge watching.

And now she wants to be a 1980s drug dealer. She has a very good eye was convinced there was dead space (which it turns out there is) in the apt walls. She really needs to get out more.
