Mom did a urine test and said it is really dark and The specific gravity is 1.035. Sister won't take her to the doctor and said it is probably a UTI and is calling for a virtual CVS visit tomorrow to get antibiotics. Mom is early 90s and has dementia. Can i call EMS from another state to have them take her to the hospital for checkup of this

She could just be dehydrated. Discuss with sister to have her drink more and eat more watery foods like watermelon, cucumbers, grapes, oranges, nectarines, jello, etc.

When my son had norovirus and was having a hard time keeping fluids in, she said to give him a tablespoon of Gatorade (or any electrolyte) every 15 mins.

If she had covid, it's very possible she's dehydrated, and maybe she's lost her sense of smell like I did afterwards, which kills your appetite. She could have a UTI.

If she went to Urgent Care would your Mom keep an IV in? She would benefit from an IV for sure. I don't know if you can call 911 from another state... If your sister won't even take her to the doctor what makes you think she'll let your Mom go in an ambulance?

What does she mean call CVS for antibiotics. They can't fill a prescription with out a doctor giving them one. You just don't willy nilly give out antibiotics. A culture should be don't to find out what type of bacteria it is so proper antibiotics can be given.

Sounds like she is doing a virtual visit for some reason... maybe her Mom is not mobile or willing?

I am NOT recommending this but you can indeed get an RX from CVS via their minute clinics:

https://www.cvs.com/minuteclinic/why-choose-us/prescriptions

I think it would be extremely irresponsible for a nurse practitioner (which is generally who staffs these clinics) to prescribe an antibiotic for a 9O year-old but it is legal.

Well my sister called cvs for a virtual visit and she answered all the questions instead of mom and nurse practitioner there called in a prescription. No mention of dehydration being a possibility.

How about get mom to her pcp through whatever health plan she has? Dark urine could mean kidney disease, or dehydration, or lots of other things.

Ronda (aka Mark)why would you be on here writing for advice about calling EMS to check on mom when me and Suzy were just there taking care of her after we told you and everyone in our family we were racing up to RI to be with mom to help Alison out since they both had COVID. We left the day before you posted this. This is getting really weird now.

Another thing to mention Ronda is that Alison called and got mom on telecoc and mom was the one on the phone with the Dr not Alison. And Alison picked up the medicine that night and had mom on it within an hour instead of waiting until Monday to get to the Dr. You just need to spend more time with mom and see she is doing great. Be positive with her and keep her spirits up instead of trying to make her think she isn’t well. Her memory is short so she’ll start over fresh with you at anytime and not remember any bad things or bickering that went on if you let her and the whole family could be happy and less stress. I’ve heard her many times talking to you on the phone and it sounds real tense. She gets off the phone and just looks stressed and worried. It’s not good.

Thanks Vince, and don't know HOW you found out that Sister Mark is here on AC, but I am glad that for once in the sibling wars we are getting BOTH SIDES.

There is a newer post re this. So the old post resurfaced as well. I was always very suspicious of Markts. Take a look at all his (her?) posts.
