I have tried and was told I couldnt get records because " if there was a confrontation with another resident I couldnt see the name. They had claimed she had fallen a few weeks after she was admitted there and had a black eye, cut on her arm and gash in her right hand! I am now feeling maybe she didnt fall and get these injuries but have no way of proving it but want her records when she was living there!

Find Care & Housing
Call the ombudsman.

Call the Director of Nursing for a care plan meeting. These are done on a regular basis with the DON and family members. Your mom might have already had one but request another one.

They have a point about not letting you see the records if there's another resident mentioned but I don't believe that it's so open and shut. To give you the records why can't they hide the other resident's name with a piece of paper or something and make a copy for you thus protecting the other resident's right to privacy?

I think because they didnt tell me about any altercation and dont want me to know. She supposly "fell" three times

Certainly they can read the documents to you or copy them with the other party's name covered up. My sister is in an ICF and I always get a copy of the "findings". Now if sis had a black eye and gashes, I would call the cops and report the assault. They can't refuse someone with a badge.
