I. How We Work in Washington. Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.

[email protected] to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. APFM does not (and may not) require or even ask consumers seeking senior housing or care services in Washington State to sign waivers of liability for losses of personal property or injury or to sign waivers of any rights established under law.I agree that: A.I authorize A Place For Mom ("APFM") to collect certain personal and contact detail information, as well as relevant health care information about me or from me about the senior family member or relative I am assisting ("Senior Living Care Information"). B.APFM may provide information to me electronically. My electronic signature on agreements and documents has the same effect as if I signed them in ink. C.APFM may send all communications to me electronically via e-mail or by access to an APFM web site. D.If I want a paper copy, I can print a copy of the Disclosures or download the Disclosures for my records. E.This E-Sign Acknowledgement and Authorization applies to these Disclosures and all future Disclosures related to APFM's services, unless I revoke my authorization. You may revoke this authorization in writing at any time (except where we have already disclosed information before receiving your revocation.) This authorization will expire after one year. F.You consent to APFM's reaching out to you using a phone system than can auto-dial numbers (we miss rotary phones, too!), but this consent is not required to use our service.

I hired a lawyer. It is the last of mom's savings. Honestly everything said on this forum is true. Even the lawyer said so, but it was implied that the facility is just gonna take their sweet time.e.g. Day 101. And then bombard me with threatening letters, Medicare will stop paying and the SNF will threaten as well, legally I am not responsible for mom's bills, after it got really really ugly and just maybe I found some money under a rock, then they would submit all the documents I provided in September and apply for Medicaid on mom's behalf................no way can I go through that , I have been care taking for many years, time for this to be setteled. By paying a lawyer, he will file the documents, and immediately call the facility on mom's behalf, he also told me that she can stay at that facility.....my request since it is close to where I live,mom has adjusted to the place and would freak out if moved! He said that once a lawyer gets involved word gets out in the facility=better treatment. It is a shame that mom paid taxes all her life and still pays $100 per month out of her se check for Medicare... this should be enough to take care of the elderly.......oh well, if anyone out there wants details (personal) send me your email and I will discuss off the boards.......if you are a caretaker, still working, no help from relatives, wishing there was a way to get your life and your health back...this forum helped me during the past 5 months

I know call a lawyer... I do not have POA mom has full blown dementia now she is incapable of signing any document.
Do NOT sign anything that states that YOU will be responsible for payment to the NH is Medicaid is not approved. Either mom signs the paperwork or you sign it "Mary Jones in her capacity as POA to Jane Doe".
They will do everything they can to guilt you into taking her home...even imply Mom would be discharged to the street.
Do not fall for any of it.
They must transfer to a facility ... or keep her till they can.
Period
Facility called me today, said they will give me a list of facilities I need to pick because the y do not have a long term bed. What is the definition of a short term stay? She has been there 7 weeks.
I read on Medicare.gov that mom cannot be forced to move if she has applied for Medicaid, or if under appeal. Will they work harder to get her approved if she stays?
All of this is stated in the patients bill of rights
Lately mom has been asking me to pack her suitcase because she has to leave, she doesn't have money, the "nice"lady from downstairs visited her and told her so...........are they trying to intimidate mom?........I am pretty much venting here, I know my rights . She has applied for long term care thru Medicaid and they have to keep her during the process.
You are an awesome daughter; making these decisions for our parents is excruciatingly hard!
Have you had her seen by the geriatric psychiatrist at the nursing home?
You don't correct a dementia patient, because they aren't " lies", they are delusions.
