Many of us are dealing with dementia, Alz & other aging needs, yet Parkison's wipes away a person's dignity!
Lets look at khpoteet's situation.
Her young husband has Parkinson's. So does a friend of mine.
The shaking robs a lucid person of speech, a imple task of reading a book becomes impossible since your hands & body quiver all the time, attempting to speak a sentence becomes garbled.
Yet, as I know it, the mind is working inside a trembing body.
I hope I am not overstepping here, but this disease is not silent, altho it seems to be.
I look forward to many post of encouragement & maybe suggestions.
I want this family to keep their home & find sources for dealing with this devastating - often ignored - condition.
YOurs truly ~
Rip
The Melvin Weinstein Parkinson's Foundation (757-313-9729 / [email protected]) offers tailored assistance to individuals with PD that are struggling with financial issues. Call or e-mail them. NOW!!!
Also, browse the Parkinson's Disease Foundation and michaeljfox.org. They might not help much as their main objective seems to raise money,
but it can't hurt. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so don't suffer in silence and make some noise. Someone will hear it.
My heart is with you, and so is Rip's. Good luck.

I will try to find links, but you might try searching on Google.
I wish I had the sites at my finger tips.
So much research & hope!
You have a relaxing evening too ...
hug that man
And AlzCaregiver, thank you for saying it! It's hard & unfair! My husband is my best friend & we've been married for 20 years today! It's VERY difficult seeing him change from the once strong man I married to the man who now needs my help for everything! You are SO right...life is unfair! I feel like we're in the middle of the ocean, in a lifeboat & the sharks are circling! I'm sorry, I'm finding it more difficult to be positive about anything!
Thank everyone, again, for your positive comments & prayers, though! They are really helping me not to feel like I'm so alone!
Have you had any luck finding resources?
I understand about feeling isolated! This group is the best thing I've found in a long time! My husband has friends that call every day to check on him, but I had a state liscensed day care for years, in our home, so I didn't have co-workers to be friends with. And with taking care of my husband for the past several years I don't have an outlet for friendships...they are few & far between! Most of who I considered friends have stepped away because of the illness & not wanting to "bother" me! Maybe they're just scared or don't know what to say, but anything would be an improvement over the deafening silence!
OK, enough pity-party! Life goes on! How is your Dad tonight?
Thanks again for everything!

He should also be eligible for SS Disability if he does not receive it already.
Praying for us. GOD's divine favor & protection to you.
v, yes, I am a Christian & feel like I pray so much that God sayd, "Oh, it's you again"! smile! Thank you for adding us to your prayers! I am in the process of trying to find a job, but they are very scarce around here! That will help us tremendously, if I were to find one! It will be very difficult to leave my husband while I work, but I don't have a choice!
helpus, my husband receives disability of $1193. per month & it helps, but just isn't enough to meet our household expenses. Thanks for praying, too...for all of us! I, too have been praying for God's unmerited favor! I know that things will work out in His timing & in HIs way, just want to hang on until then! Not sure that I'm being such a great witness for Him, right now. Trying to trust & be faithful, but it's difficult! Thanks agian for your prayers!
Also, my cousin is doing the "reverse mortgage." From my understanding, she can still live in the home, receives a monthly "stipend" and can stay in her home even if the equity is eaten up. However, many companies charge steep initiation fees and you do pay interest. So, be careful if you go this route. So far, she is pleased with the result.
Good luck...the furies seem to find us when are the most vulnerable.
Peace,
Lilli
Thank you for your insight! We have already done the process of taking equity out of our home. That's one of the problems, in that now we have to repay the loan. We still have some equity, but the band has declined because of our income & ability to repay. I have checked into the reverse mortgage & were declined because although my husband is 62 & would qualify with his age, I'm only 48 & they won't do it unless both parties are at least 62. I'm glad that the reverse is working for your cousin!
I am looking for a job & hopefully will find one soon. I hate to leave my husband to work, but don't have a choice if we're to stay in our home.
Don't know what we'd do without our furries!
Peace to you, too!

Think outside your regular field of work & creative with what you know.
You might surprise yourself.
Prayers Laura
Thank you for your prayers, more than you know! Trying to be faithful...sometimes it's difficult! I've been a Christian for many years. Maybe you can answer something for me. God is able to do all things, right? And if you're a Christian, we can ask anything in Jesus' name & He says that He'll do it. (John 14:14) And if we're His children, I don't want my child to be sick & would do what was necessary that I could do for them to be well...I''ve prayed, time & time again, but my husband is still sick, our home is at risk & I still don't have a job. Why hasn't God moved on our behalf? How in the world will He be glorified in my husband staying sick & us losing our home? I just don't understand...
Only HE can answer that. All I know is what HIS word says....HIS ways are not our ways...A year for us is as a second to HIM....
GOD's timing rarely coincides with what we would chose, but HE's a GOD of "just in time". We must "believe we have and we shall receive".
I found out the hard way: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, HE will make your path straight".
There are many things I don't need to know or understand, just trust in HIM. It's working for me.
"If any two agree in prayer....". I am agreeing with you now that you will find financial aide & you and your family will have health & peace.
Keep trusting & be blessed.
wesands, thank you so much for your help & insight! Hadn't thought about calling our congressman! My husband already received SS disability, it's just not enough to make ends meet!! Thanks again!
I am constantly in awe!
Praying for our fire freedom soon.
Mercy & Deliverance!!!!
Love & best to you & yours.
I'm also praying for His soon return, but we have children who need to come to Him first, as you probably have family members who need to come to Him, too. It would break my heart for them not to make it!
At the funeral Saturday, one of the ministers made it a point of giving the plan of salvation several times & told the sons that their dad had come to him several times asking him to pray for the 3 sons for salvation. If they made a decision, they didn't make it know. If that doesn't move them to make a decision, what would it take?!?!
Please keep my husband in your prayers today...the tremors are pretty bad.
Thanks again for your insight, encouragement & your prayers! They mean a lot!
