I am taking care of my 90-year-old mom who fell and broke ker hip 5 weeks ago. We purchased a BD Purewick home catheter system with 30 sealed catheters, but now she is getting up to go to the bedside commode. We only used it once and sterilized it. It was almost $600, but you are not allowed to sell medical equipment on eBay even though this requires no prescription. I am frustrated as I cannot find a place to sell this (new) system to someone else who would benefit from it.

We discovered the female external catheter in the hospital. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Need, Have you spoken with your medical provider about an indwelling catheter?

Just because your mom is now able to use the bedside commode doesn't mean that she won't in the future still need that Purewick catheter, especially as she gets even older.
And I would venture to guess that if and when she'll need it in the future, that the price will be a whole lot more than what you paid for it recently.
So you may want to hang on to it for a while and see if she'll be needing it again.

There are 2 Purewick systems for sale on eBay right now and over 70 sold recently. You cannot sell USED medical equipment on eBay......the way around that is to list your system as an "Open Box" item, then in the description you say "only used once".

Or, you can list it on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. I see several used units for sale on FB in my area right now.

Good luck to you.
