By proceeding, I agree that I understand the following disclosures:
I. How We Work in Washington. Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.

However..If you have had other episodes that concern you it might be a good idea to see your doctor. Please tell the doctor what else is going on in your life as well. That not only effects your Mental Health it can effect you physically.
I bet there are many times you have driven home from the store, work and been on "auto pilot" and if someone were to ask you what color house is on the corner of Main and Pine you would not know even though you pass there almost every day. You would not know if the light was red or green, you just stop, it is an unconscious response. So I would not worry much about not recalling how you got home after a stressful day at the hospital.
You do need a break and I hope you have help if not it might be time to start looking. Might also be time to reevaluate your parents living at home. If they are living in their home they will be needing help so Assisted Living is an option but Memory Care might be better. If they are living with you they will both need more help sooner than later and can you handle that?
You are your first priority then your family.
Can you take a break? Please get someone in the family to step in (or hire a caregiver and give yourself a breather.
If you can get away for a week, you will be better able to take on the battles when you return. You don’t want to end up in the hospital.
If you dont have a PCP, I would get myself to Urgent Care today or tomorrow and have yourself checked out thoroughly. Not for dementia, but for an acute condition that may have caused you to blank out temporarily.
Am I sleeping enough?
When was the last time I did something that allowed me to stop worrying about those I'm caring for?
Am I eating well?
I would suggest a weekend at a local hotel with the phone turned off before going into all the medical testing. That way you can rule our sleep deprivation and stress as the cause.
You might also consider that at 49, you could be in the early stages of menopause which can cause mental confusion and hormonal changes too and if you do go for medical testing maybe start with a gynecologist visit.
But YES, you should see a doctor ASAP! If it is a TIA, sometimes those precede a major stroke by only days.
