My friend has Alzheimer's, and I want to know how to take care of him properly when his siblings are not at home with him.
What kind of caring are you talking about. Just sitting with him while his siblings run errands? Making him a meal or two? Are you going to be physically taking care of him, like bathing, dressing or toileting. Are you a female because I personally would not toilet any man not my husband. Anyone with ALZ needs 24/7 care. There is no leaving them alone. It maybe time for family to have him placed. I personally would not get involved because it would be expected of you eventually.

I am afraid this is too big of a subject to address on the Forum in this manner.
I think if you have no to little information on Alzheimer's it would be good to begin with watching some Teepa Snow Videos (I believe still on youtube) and do some internet research asking in the search bar "What is Alzheimer's Disease.?"

If you are planning on being a caregiver it is important to understand the disease and to fully understand how someone beset by this disease behaves.
As to the individual you are speaking of do know that each patient is different in as far as how far his disease has progressed, whether or not he can be safe alone for short times without wandering, whether he is EVER safe in terms of starting a fire with cooking and so on.

So welcome to the internet which is your friend for research.
Start on this site. Go to the top timeline and look under "care topics". They are arranged in alphabetical order and anything that seems of interest just click on and read.
Good luck.
