If I can't find a poster's most recent answer or comment to a thread, I need to leave this site.

I've just spent 20 minutes trying to find an OP's comment to a question.

I'm leaving and this is why. I can't spend time scrolling through endless posts.

We just wanted to pop in and let you know we hear you. Unfortunately, we can’t make everyone happy. As example, our understanding of your frustration is with the reply function, yet within this same post others complain that they are frustrated that the reply feature doesn’t exist within the discussion threads. Our intent was to allow caregivers to read answers without needing to read side conversations that sometimes derail from the original question. “Discussions” are more free-flowing, therefore the OP is not in search of specific answers, but more of a discussion based conversation for all to chime in on.

The suggestion to include a link directly to the new reply is a good one. We will approach the idea with the tech team, as it is always our incentive to implement improvements for our members.

In answer to other questions, yes, there are Admins here. But it has always been our policy to loosely moderate the forum. We are all adults here, so while some posters might be more provocative than others, we do not censor posts by taste. Posts are only edited or removed in accordance with our comment policy. That said, personal attacks are always removed because caregivers are here for support. It is common practice on public forums to close the edit function after a period of time. Editing/deleting posts causes issues with continuity of a thread or historical context. Any concern about a post can be handled by contacting an admin directly with the "contact us" function or by email: [email protected]

Although you have pointed out frustrations with the workings of the site, you are all providing what was intended in the creation of the forum- answers and support for other caregivers. Especially after a stressful holiday season, large numbers of caregivers who are struggling find this site. Every day your interactions with them provide solace. We sincerely thank you for helping others who are in need and appreciate the important role you are providing in the lives of other caregivers.

Where is the block feature? Your comment policy needs to be revised, so that the responder can edit anytime they wish, same applies to the poster, and either can delete their own posts your report function is non-existent, we have to make up a response to the original posters question and then report ourselves. Does this really make any logical sense to you? Finally, when I go the "More Discussions" it takes me back to the top of the previous page and I have to scroll down...Again...a total waste of time...called busy work. It appears that the Admin is very resistant to change, maybe he/she should more time out here posting and see how difficult and time consuming it is to navigate through this site.

Barb,
No pressure to stay, it's just that you are a lighthouse in a storm, a source of experience and stability, someone others can trust for answers.

When I get worn out, and need to post less often, I feel it is okay because of people like you, standing strong, holding the line on common sense and reality, imo.

Barb,
The website may be dysfunctional, but you are not.

See you after the break....

There needs to be a link straight to the comment reply that shows in the news feed!

Barb I'm happy to see you have been posting since your "snit" 🤣, I agree with you though. I tend to drop any threads that get a lot of answers and replies, I figure there are obviously enough others who can carry on without me.

cwillie, I do the same thing. And Barb, don't you dare leave.

Roaming around this website looking for something is good brain exercise :)

Yeah, I think I had a tantrum; need more sleep, clearly.

Thanks to you all; at least the admins responded. I am on another financial support site (www.bogleheads.org) and the interface is SO much better, easier to navigate, etc. And it's an entirely volunteer-run site.

The fact that these folks are making money off our good advice is not sitting well with me right now, but I don't seem to be able to stop responding.....

Barb I just saw this thread about ten minutes ago and freaked out! No!!! I don't want you to leave, you have helped me and so many others. More than the therapist I paid to see! I don't know how I can ever repay you for saving my sanity multiple times. Please know I am very thankful.

I kept reading hoping to see if you posted again, and am so thankful you did! I'm also glad the admin came on and I hope they can make some technical changes.

I always want you to do what's best for you, but if you leave here don't be surprised if you see me suddenly hanging out at bogleheads ;)

When or if I make comments on posts I go to my activity portion of my profile and it shows the most recent and then I go to that. It's only if I made made a comment on that post or my own.
I hope this helps.
Please stay, I always have appreciated your input on the different situations on here.

I agree, I agree, I agree!!!

It is impossible to find the most recent response when it is buried in a reply to another comment. What if we just all agree not to use the "Reply to" feature? It's easy enough to state in your response that you're replying to so-and-so, right?

My company designs websites. The reason these site owners don't fix this one is because there is no "incentive" to do so. People who come here are looking to get or give help, they're not spending money so who cares if they leave out of frustration. Not sure if this site gets funding other than from the advertisers but fixing a website costs money. I agree this site is "inelegant" but it provides so much real help to so many and I wished I had found it when my multi-senior dumpster fire was ablaze. That's why I'm here now. You provide so much critical info, insight and compassion. If you leave...wah!!! but I will totally understand and you will be very missed.

I know what you mean........it's extremely frustrating to try & locate a recent comment, that's for sure!!!

I hope you don't leave, though, b/c I always love reading your advice & comments & have learned a lot from you.

Take a break and then come back........we need you!!! :)
