Hubby and I, both mid 70's, we both have shrunk over the years, bought a sofa a few years ago, after going to numerous furniture stores, and we thought we could get use to the sofa. We did test drive it before purchasing It looked soooo comfy but we found ourselves not sitting up straight because the seat cushions were quite wide front to back. Needed a pillow or two behind our back just so our feet would touch the floor.

Well, last month we found a sofa that actually fit our height, from a nationwide store. It cost a pretty penny but well worth it. It is so good to have something where we aren't almost horizontal trying to watch TV and not hearing in our brain our Moms saying "sit up straight" :)

Anyone else finding as we shrink that so many different things become more of a challenge? Now I understand why my late parents kept their 50 year old sofa for so long... it fit !!

I know all about the "Adirondack wave" if you are ever there you learn really quick, you wave like a crazy person at the black flys. But the chairs. I just think it's so funny that I never new that. And honestly always wonder about them.

Hahaha, I never in my life new that about Adirondack chairs. And I live near the Adirondacks. 🤣 That makes so much sense. I can't sit in them, they hurt my back.

Those Adirondack chairs are meant for sitting on a hill . So you are not tipping over forwards face-planting in a regular chair . You essentially are sitting normally in Adirondack chairs on a hill . I don’t understand why people use them on a flat patio . I guess they want to be reclined ???

Are they? I remember back in the 90's the fashion was extra low, it was difficult for my taller parents (and bro too) to find something they could actually get out of.

Speaking of extra low - how does anybody over the age of 30 get out of those Adirondack/Muskoka patio chairs?

I noticed they are deeper when we went to buy couches a few years ago . I am short to begin with and have shrunk . Hubby has long legs and prefers deep sofa , so we have to compromise when we buy couches . But we’ve had to do that for close to 40 years anyway . I have started using a pillow behind my back at times .

I also noticed the seat in Hubby’s newer used car is deeper, but doable for me . Seats in my car are more comfy . Hubby misses his old car , darn deer totaled it. 😤😤

I’m annoyed that I can no longer reach the top shelf of the kitchen cabinets without a step stool , or I just ask Hubby to do it .

Cleaning snow off the roof of the car is tough . We both have small SUV’s , but it’s still hard to reach for me .

Oh 😱, I just thought of shrinking. Hubby's 6"5 so everything is BIG!!

Even are toilets is raised, and one bathroom sink. That might become a problem for me!!

Yes, I have noticed it, but I'm use to it.
